From time to time, DirectiveGroup team members will share their views on a piece by an industry thought leader. Here, Larry discusses social media branding strategies.
Most business owners realize that they need to have a presence online and in social media, but they don’t really understand how or why. Oftentimes you will see small business with a Facebook page that is updated every 3 months with a random bit of text, or a Twitter feed with a few tweets over the months. I read an article about branding yourself online, but you can easily apply this to small business ventures as well.
The original article is by Jason Bowden and you can find it here.
I feel like one of the mistakes that people make is that they think all the platforms are the same, they just have to pick one. While inherently all social media platforms will be similar, they each have their own eco-system and user base. The user base on Pinterest will be much different than the user base on Reddit, etc. Knowing the strengths of each platform and how to leverage that to your advantage will make sure you stay ahead of the crowd!
